EVs or Hybrids? Automotive Trend amidst High Oil Price?

Let’s admit we are facing Global Oil Crisis amidst Conflict in the Middle East.

The question is: “Are we all ready to change our mind set in automotive shifting from smoky vehicles to electric vehicles or a combination of both petroleum-fed and e-cars also known as hybrids.

Recently, I just visited Manila International Auto Show 2026 and i have mixed feelings – very disappointed and excited.

I was very disappointed not seeing the popular Japanese brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Nissan and even American brand Ford. South Korean brand Kia was there.

MIAS 2026 was flooded with Chinese automotive brands BYD, Cherry, Changan, Jetour, ROX among others and all promoting full electric cars.

The first question came into my mind: “Are we capable enough to sustain full electric cars on the road?” This is despite shortage of charging stations due BYD claimed it has many charging stations nationwide.

The second question: “Are these Chinese Auto Brands capable of providing EV? I hope they resolved some numerous complaints (mostly BYD clients) they’ve waited 6 months or more for the arrival of needed parts of their E-cars.

Maybe you have other questions that we can think about or discuss on this matter.
