Philippines celebrates 150th Bonifacio Day

Various activities have lined up and prepped as the nation celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gat Andres Bonifacio tomorrow, November 30.

Bonifacio is known as the “Father of Philippine Revolution” and founded KKK- Kataastaasan Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga anak ng Bayan.

Bonifacio 150th BirthGat Andres’ group was known as the Katipuneros and they fought the Spanish regimen.  Bonifacio is considered as the first leader of the country and a national hero.

President Benigno Aquino III heads the celebration in Caloocan City including some members of the administration.

The President has been given full military honors at the monument of Bonifacio followed by a flag ceremony and wreath laying ceremony.

In his speech, President Aquino exalted Filipinos strength and determination against all odds and faced the challenges in life especially during the super typhoon Yolanda devastation and magnitude 7.2 earthquake.

Meanwhile, Vice President Jojo Binay spearheaded another ceremony at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.

Over at the Tandang Sora Shrine in Quezon City and Fort Bonifacio, Makati City, there are also programs planned for the said occasion.
