US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived today, December 17, for his 2-day visit in Manila, Philippines and meet the Philippine government officials headed by President Benigno Simeon Aquino Jr.
One of the agenda of Kerry’s visit is to strengthen US alliance with the Philippines and ensure protection against any threat especially in the disputed territories in the West Philippine Sea.
Kerry had a closed-door meeting with DFA Sec. Albert Del Rosario before holding a joint press conference.
During his speech, Kerry touched on the subject of the West Philippine Sea, and how claimants of it should be in accordance with international law.
The US Secretary of State blasts China’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) sayhing the US cannot support such move which poses threat in the security of the ASEAN region.
Meanwhile, motorists were irked as the whole Roxas Boulevard turned into a grid lock, due to the arrival of US Secretary of State John Kerry.
Traffic Police and MMDA enforcers controlled the traffic situation for more than an hour from Vito Cruz, Quirino Ave. and other nearby roads as the contingent of Kerry and other high-ranking officials were en-route to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Because traffic was held up, other commuters decided to walk instead.
